I have recently completed an ESRC funded Parliamentary Academic Fellowship investigating how the Civil Contingencies Secretariat of the Cabinet Office compile the UK National Risk Assessment (NRA). This includes summarising the structure of the NRA and current methods used for assessing natural hazard risks, compiling previously-identified limitations of the current NRA procedure, and comparing the Government risk assessment approach with the methods used in other sectors (e.g. insurance, utilities and academia). My work has been published in a POSTbrief, which can be downloaded here.
